Home and gone again

I think I've mentioned before that I'm a homebody. If not, I'm a homebody. I love being home, getting into a routine, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the wonders of my backyard. After my friend recently got some grey decking installed in her backyard and started spending so much more time out there, I was inspired to enjoy my backyard too. Of course, decking is an exciting feature in a backyard, but I've learned to spend time in my backyard without it. There's always the option of...

Trying Hard

It’s a finicky thing, trying hard. When I first started climbing, it was second nature; do whatever was in my power to get to the next hold. I think it’s one of the things that drew me to climbing in the first place, working so desperately hard to contort my body to reach the next hold. There were no guidelines, no correct form to a move, no time limits. Unfortunately for me, getting back into climbing after a couple years of injuries, trying my hardest has been an elusive thing.   I'm...

Cabbage – good road food

I've been getting a CSA box for almost two years now. It's a pretty amazing way to experience new fruits and vegetables that I would never seek out at the grocery store or farmers market if left to my own accord. My only wish is that they would have remote deliveries or pick up locations, so when on climbing trips or events, I could stray from the canned soup and bagel for dinner and actually eat nutritious food. For those of you who don't know what a CSA is, it...

I've never been much of a reader. I'm not sure if it's because my entire family consists of bookworms and it was my way of rebelling. Or if it's because I am too antsy to sit still for any measurable amount of time. For whatever reason, I'm just not that into it. I can usually make it through a medium length magazine article, as long as it has enough pictures to take up the majority of each page, but give me a book and it's just a lost cause. I've...

December comes and goes

For a good part of my climbing career, I dreaded too much time in the gym. Even though I lived within an hour of the arguably some of the best climbing gyms in the country, I couldn't hack day after day at the gym in Boulder.  I started to feel as if ants were crawling under my skin and an unquenchable thirst for anything but the blue mats, plastic holds, and florescent taped routes. Luckily for me, I could pretty much escape at any moment to the great outdoors.   This past...

Turkey Day

Food is one of my favorite things in the world. Aside from being imperative to our existence, I spend countless hours each week learning about all of its wonders. I think I've always been a foodie, even when I was a small child. I loved going out for nice meals, or preparing ones at home with my family. As a teenager I was obsessed with the process of baking. I would watch cooking show after cooking show about techniques, recipes, restaurants, etc. For alle spørgsmål om søgning af lægemidler og deres...

Starting point

My dear friend Emily was in town this past weekend. Unfortunately for our timing, it happened to be at the beginning of an early winter here in Yosemite. I would have loved to show her all the wonders of my backyard, but we've postponed that until spring. I love having friends visit. It's like getting Christmas presents only better. I get the same excited energy, but instead of material things, you get to have one of your most loved things in life come and play with you for several days.   I've...
